I am serious about my painting but don't want to think of
T-MatthewsArt as a business.  Instead I think of it simply as
the art of Terry Matthews. The marketing of art comes about
because of the need for the artist to reaffirm the value of what
the artist is doing.  But too much marketing makes art work,
and I want it to be fun.   

I am retired from what I call real work, and paint for the joy of
painting.  The joy of creating a painting that I like and having
others show that they like it also.

I haven't painted long enough to know exactly what to call
myself or how to describe my work.  Since I retired-retired in
2001 and started painting, my painting has gone through
several different stages.  I think my current efforts might be
called more folk than fine and more impressionistic than
realistic.

Mostly though, I paint things Southwestern.
